Relationships, and the books that help them along
People have been asking me about books about relationships lately, so I can tell it’s time to revisit some of my recommendations.
As a coach, I end up speaking to a wide variety of clients. Those who are:
- looking for relationships,
- newly in relationships,
- tuning up relationships,
- falling out of relationships,
- and re-committing to relationships…
Would you believe that the six books I recommend on relationships apply to all these folks?
It’s true! Each book provides unique ways to better understand who you are and how you act within relationships. You don’t even have to be in a relationship for these books to be helpful!
In fact, if you read these books before you start looking for that special someone, you’re even more likely to attract the right person. More importantly, you’ll find out ways to stay happy and connected once you find your true love.

The Feel the Fear Guide to Lasting Love, by Susan Jeffers:
This is a wonderful guide book to help you push through the normal fears that come up in a relationship. It gives you the tools to trust yourself when you have found lasting love.

Opposites Attract: How to Use the Secrets of Personality Type to Create a Love That Lasts, by Renee Baron:
Opposites don’t always attract, but it happens often enough that it helps to learn more about how those dynamics play out. We can end up getting attracted to the very qualities we wish had in ourselves. This book helps you discover your own personality preference, and how it impacts a relationship. You’ll end up appreciating the gifts each of you bring to the relationship.
In today’s hectic and career-oriented environment, relationships have become more complicated. Because of this, men and women are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress. This book helps both men and women understand their new roles in a modern, work-oriented society. It allows you to discover new and practical ways to create a lifetime of love and harmony.
We often feel loved and cared about in a different way than our partner. Gary Chapman writes about the importance of being able to express love to your partner in a way that they can understand. And, in turn, how to explain to your partner how you would like love expressed to you.
Alison has spent several decades studying the dynamics of men and women. She uses the information from her research to teach women how to take back their power in relationships. In Alison’s words about the Queen’s code: “Shift your outlook on men and you’ll become more empowered and adored as a woman.”
Steve Harvey gives you a man’s perspective on relationships. He includes practical action steps that will immediately make a difference in women’s relationships with men.
Let me know if you have thoughts about these books. I’d also love to hear about books you recommend.
Yours sincerely
